Dr. Richard van Ostende is Professor of China Studies at UGSM-Monarch Business School Switzerland, where he got promoted last year on the subject of strategic decision-making process of companies considering to performing Foreign Direct Investment into China. Mr. Van Ostende has been in China over 14 years and has mainly been working in senior financial management positions and has published extensively on aspects of doing business in China.

Ann Sophie joined R&P China Lawyers in 2018 as the Director of Corporate Services. Prior to joining R&P, she worked in Shanghai as a Group financial Controller for a Norwegian multinational.

Ann Sophie has extensive experience advising foreign companies on tax compliance for various cross-border operations, including VAT and CIT optimization. She specializes in intercompany transactions, and reconciliation of financial statements so that they comply with IFRS and China GAAP.

She was educated at Aarhus University, Denmark, with a dual BA in Chinese and Business Administration, Ann Sophie also attended programs at Shanghai Jiaotong University and Shanghai Donghua University.

Ann Sophie has lived in China since 2009, is a native Danish speaker and fluent in English, Norwegian, Swedish and Chinese (Mandarin).
