Riccardo Benussi is Deputy Regional Manager at Dezan Shira & Associates' Shanghai office, and Manager on the International Business Advisory team. Riccardo assists foreign invested companies from Europe, North and South America with their investments in China. His areas of expertise include setting up of wholly foreign-owned enterprises and representative offices, and trademark filing in China. Riccardo's industry experience includes international food and beverage, manufacturing, and high-tech. Riccardo also co-manages the Italian Desk with Dezan Shira & Associates’ Managing Partner, Alberto Vettoretti.

Prior to joining Dezan Shira & Associates, Riccardo Benussi worked on the trademark team at one of Asia’s largest IP law firms after gaining experience at a large Italian-based IP advisory firm. Most recently, Riccardo was the legal consultant for a Sino-American construction company based in Shanghai.

Riccardo was previously a post-graduate fellow with the Italian Trade Agency based in Rome, Shanghai Tong Ji University and Beijing. The course focused on Intellectual Property management and internationalization for SMEs. Riccardo holds a bachelor’s degree in Intellectual Property and East Asian Law from the University of Bologna. He is fluent in Italian, English, German and Spanish and is proficient in Chinese.

Jan is a strategic consultant based in Shanghai who has been living in China since 2004 experiencing the changes that are taking place firsthand, putting him in the unique position to bridge the cultural boundaries between East and West.

Jan holds a degree in Clinical Chemistry and Master of Science degree in the Tropical Molecular Biology His work and dissertations focused on ‘the study of Para Influenza virus’ at the UZ of Antwerp and ‘Interaction of marine snail venoms with human membrane receptors’ during his Master of Science program at the Free University of Brussels.

Jan brings with him an exceptional combination of international and local sensibilities to the work in China His distinctive way of deconstructing and understanding behavior from first principles and building it back into a business friendly framework has been at the forefront of his success with clients He is applying these very same principles in the way he lives through cultural changes and is closely observing the 2019 nCov outbreak and places this against the response against SARS in 2002 2003 the Sichuan earthquake of 2008 and Fukushima disaster in 2015.

Susan started her career in event planning, supporting brand promotion or media campaign initiatives for clients across a variety of sectors in China before becoming a China insight consultant In this role she provided the strategic consumer perspectives and cultural lens for international businesses to inform their China strategy before becoming a China insight specialist and consultant at white caviar Susan is proficient in English and German She lived 3 years in Germany from where she expanded her multicultural understanding, giving her the unique ability to place and interpret China insights in a broader perspective.

Susan provides strategic consumer insights and cultural lens to her clients and has a great sensitivity to transform socio cultural changes taking place today in a unique but genuine China market perspective.

Susan lived in China during the SARS epidemics in 2002 2003 While closely following the 2019 nCov outbreak and response, she recognizes how the response today is the result of the progress China has made as an economy and in dealing with events of this scale.
