After graduation in a French engineering school (Ecole Polytechnique + Ecole des Mines de Paris), in material science, Denis Bortzmeyer got his PhD in continuum mechanics of ceramic powders at Ecole des Mines de Paris (France, 1990).
He worked ten years in the R&D Department of the chemical group Rhône-Poulenc on ceramics powders and catalysts supports. During this time he got his habilitation to supervise academic research (granular material rheology and continuum mechanics, 1996). In 1999 he joined Atochem, now Arkema, where he served in various R&D management functions in Atochem’s Research Center in Lyon (France). From 2005 to 2012 he was Head of Partnerships in the R&D Direction of Arkema.
In 2012, he went to China in order to build and manage the new Research Center of Arkema in China. Close to Shanghai, this facility is now the main R&D platform of the Group in Asia. In 2018, on top of his responsibility as Changshu R&D Center Director, he took the position of Arkema Scientific Director for Asia-Pacific.

Born in 1959, Yves COMBRES got Engineering Diploma followed by PhD in Material Science and Engineering in Ecole des Mines de Paris in France.Over his more than 30 years seniority in the field of materials and metallurgy, he experienced several activities in France, Japan and China, ranging from Research & Development, Process Engineering, Fabrication, Planning, Safety & Environment, … making him Plant Manager or Line Manager in France and China. Currently working for Framatome as General Manager of China Ventures and General Manager of CNNC-AREVA-ShangHai-Tubing Ltd, he is as well Director at the Board of Zircoproduct in Japan and member of the Framatome Component Operations Directorate Executive Committee. He wrote more than 80 articles in the field of titanium, zirconium & hafnium metallurgy and is a member of several Academic Societies in France, Japan and United States. He is also member of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of France in China and Honoured President of Local Economic Development Agency in France. He has also been awarded Jean RIST medal from the French Metallurgical Society, the MISHIMA medal from Japanese Metallurgical Society and honoured by China Friendship Award.

Zolzaya oversees management of client projects in China for Dezan Shira’s Business Intelligence Unit, a division providing strategic solutions for foreign companies seeking to enter into or expand operations within the Chinese market. As part of the China team, she has assisted SMEs and larger MNCs with studies on industry conditions, regulatory and compliance requirements, multi-city opportunity studies, country-by-country analysis and more.
As an editor for Dezan Shira’s Asia Briefing Ltd. subsidiary, Zolzaya has written articles predominantly on China Briefing to help foreign companies understand regional integration and trade, and relevant investment opportunities.
Previously, Zolzaya worked in business and transactions consulting, within research and project management roles. She holds a BA in Economics and International Studies from Kenyon College.

Stephane Grand has over 20 years financial and legal advisory experience on foreign investment in China, specializing in capital structure optimization and management restructuring.
Through the early 1990s, he gained hands-on experience of the PRC legal system as an associate of the Beijing office of law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel and with the World Bank Legal Reform and Private Sector Development Departments. He was a founding partner of US barcode technology firm Scanbuy, a senior consultant with Coltrin and Associates, New York, and with Claydon Gescher Associates, a consulting firm in Beijing specializing in Internet and Telecoms. He went on to head the Chinese practice of RSM Salustro (audit and consulting) and created its tax and management consultancy practices. He founded S.J. Grand Financial and Tax Advisory in 2003. The firm now has 5 offices in Greater China (Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Taipei) and 4 offices in South East Asia (Singapore, Ho Chi Min City, Phnom Penh, Rangoon) and has served over 1,300 clients and advised clients over 300 transactions.
He is a graduate of HEC Paris (MBA), La Sorbonne (Ph.D. in Chinese contract law) and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (MALD), and teaches courses on the legal and financial aspects of doing business in China as an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Business of the University of Illinois and the Catholic University of Leuven. He speaks English, French and Mandarin.

Philippe Snel is member of the Brussels Bar and has been active as a lawyer in China for well over a decade.
As one of the few independent foreign lawyers in Shanghai, he leads a team of 15 lawyers who assist foreign investors to establish, develop and operate their businesses in China, as well as Chinese investors who seek to expand their investments overseas. He mainly advises in the fields of corporate law, compliance and technology transfer.
Philippe teaches Intellectual Property & Technology Law at the Finance & Business School of Shanghai Normal University and is founder and chairman of Sinnolabs, a business accelerator for European technology companies in China.

Suzhou - Xiangcheng District is centrally located in Suzhou. It borders areas like: Suzhou old town, Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), Suzhou New District (SND), Changshu or Kunshan. At short distance from major cities such as Shanghai, Hangzhou or Nanjing, Xiangcheng has an easy reach to more than 20% of China’s total GDP. The district counts five different Development Zones, each with several industrial parks, offices and research areas.
This representative from the local Suzhou government will join the panel, not to promote his zone, but in order to listen and exchange directly with companies and to get a deeper understanding of what foreign companies worry about and require.

Venceslas is Director of Industrial & Logistics Services, Advisory & Transaction services department focusing on site selection consulting for foreign enterprises. He is a French national and language enthusiast who has been living in China since 2009. Prior to joining CBRE in 2016, he worked over 5 years for Singapore developer Ascendas-Singbridge which is part of the state-owned sovereign wealth fund Temasek Holdings a direct subsidiary of the Ministry of Finance of Singapore. Ascendas-Singbridge, together with the Suzhou Government was behind the planning and development of Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP).
With over 7 years’ experience in real estate, Venceslas has participated in the development, positioning and promotion of all kinds of real estate properties going from pure industrial & logistics platforms to large scale business parks, commercial offices & residential. The total area under management was over 1 million sqm spread across 8 cities.
Over the course of several years, he has successfully promoted his projects to a large number of MNCs as well as Chinese clients.
Prior to that, he worked over 4 years in various areas of supply chain going from logistics operations for Mc Donald’s & major French retailer E. Leclerc to Global Freight Forwarding & Procurement in the manufacturing sector.
