Sven Agten has been living and working in China since 2004. He speaks Chinese and worked forseveral foreign companies, first as Business Development Manager, later in 2009 as General Manager of a Belgian-Sino JV in Tangshan, Hebei province where he set up an managed a manufacturing plant with foreign investment of 15 million euro. In 2014 he moved to Shanghai and joined Rheinzink with the goal to develop and implement a new China localization and growth strategy. Since then Rheinzink has opened offices in nine cities in China and defined a clear strategy of moving to the Tier II and III cities where growth is coming from. He is also author of ´So schafft man China´ (Springer, 2018) which describes the economic and social trends, and business opportunities and challenges of the new China.
Rheinzink is a German company and the world’s leading manufacturer of titanium zinc products. It belongs to the Grillo group of companies and has an international presence, boasting subsidiaries and salesbranches in 30 different countries on five continents. When talking about titanium zinc everyone in the market is thinking about the quality standards that Rheinzink has set. It was 45 years ago that Rheinzink, as Europe's firstmanufacturer of zinc for use as a building material, introduced this material to the market. Now Rheinzink is looking increasingly towards Asia, and China in particular, as growth market and for future development.
