For international companies operating in China, choosing the right Microsoft 365 setup is not always straightforward. The global version and the China version operated by 21Vianet run on seperate environments. The differences are not limited to where data is hosted. They can also affect cross-border connectivity, collaboration with overseas teams, account administration, security management and access to certain features.

A setup that works well for a company's global headquarters may not always work smoothly for its China operations. Problems often only become visible after deployment, when teams start dealing with slow connections, login issues, collaboration gaps or unexpected compliance concerns.

This session is designed to help companies understand these questions before they become operational problems.

Led by JET IT Services Network Engineers Maarten van Zanten and Pepijn Treffers, together with Project Manager Jimmy Zhai, the discussion will focus on the practical considerations companies need to consider when reviewing or setting up their Microsoft 365 environment in China.

JET IT Services will cover:

  • Microsoft 365 Global vs. China Version

How the two environments differ in practice, including infrastructure, connectivity, data residency and feature availability.

  • Choosing the Right Setup for Your Business

How to assess the most suitable option based on your company structure, the location of your teams, cross-border collaboration needs and compliance considerations.

  • Account Management and Security

Common issues related to user access, identity management, administration, onboarding and offboarding across different environments.

  • Common Issues in Practice

Real examples of connectivity problems, login issues and collaboration gaps that companies often encounter when managing Microsoft 365 across China and global operations.

They will also share practical examples from their work with clients, including where regional IT setups often break down and what companies can do to reduce unnecessary disruption.

This is not a product demo or a highly technical lecture. It is a focused working session for senior decision-makers, general managers and IT directors who want a clearer framework for reviewing their Microsoft 365 setup in China.

Participants will leave with a better understanding of the available options, the questions they should ask internally and the potential risks they may need to address.

To allow time for practical questions and discussion, attendance will be limited.
