This summer, a remarkable journey comes to a close in Shanghai: after cycling over 12,000 kilometers across two continents, Mr. Claude Brouir, a Belgian cancer survivor in his sixties, is arriving at the gates of the Belgian Consulate in Shanghai on a solar-powered tricycle he built himself.

Launched under the name Bike2Shanghai, Claude's four-month journey began in Brussels on April 19, with one clear mission: to raise funds and awareness for charities such as Re-Source and 100 kms au-delà. His custom-built solar trike, equipped with electric motors and solar panels, powered him across Europe, Central Asia, and finally through China, averaging 100 km a day.

But this project is more than just a feat of endurance. It's the story of one man's fight against cancer, his passion for sustainable mobility, and a unique attempt to bridge cultures by traveling the old-fashioned way: by bike.

To celebrate this heroic achievement, we invite you to join us on Sunday, August 31 to witness Claude ride his final meters and officially cross the finish line.

The consulate will be transformed into a festive Belgian-style cycling village, full of "koerssfeer" (classic Belgian race-day atmosphere), complete with Belgian beer, booths, and cycling-themed cheer. Come meet Claude, hear his inspiring story, and show your support for his cause.
