The Chinese economy is facing both internal and external pressure, such as the China-US Trade War, yet statistics from Reuters show that the economy has grown with 6.6% in 2018. Over the past year we also experienced several new legislations, such as the IIT Law, the New Negative List and Foreign Direct Investment Law to be introduced in 2019, affecting foreign business in China were introduced. All of these which will further influence foreign businesses operating in China.

How have companies from Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg (the Benelux) performed in China against this backdrop? How have they performed among their peers and what are their expectations for 2019? The Sino Benelux Business Survey 2019 aims to answer these questions. Your participation will be highly appreciated.

This year's Sino Benelux Business Survey is organized by the Benelux Chamber of Commerce in China, supported by the official trade- and diplomatic representations of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg in China, and in partnership with Moore Stephens Advisory.

Last year's survey taught us that the most important negative drivers for Benelux companies in China in 2017 were rising salary costs and the unleveled playing field respectively. The most important positive drivers on the other hand, were increased economies of scale, and use of technology respectively.

The online questionnaire takes only five to ten minutes of your time and will be opened from March 4th until the end of March 2019. The results will subsequently be analysed by us and written into a comprehensive report, which we will publish during the month of May. This report will then be presented across the Benelux business communities in China, in Beijing, Shanghai, and the Pearl River Delta.

Note: As with previous editions of the survey participants are guaranteed anonymity. All answers shall only be used for the analysis of the results and no information will be shared with third parties.
