Session 1: AI Governance & Emerging Technology

Companies are under pressure to "embed" AI across their organizations, while the technology is evolving at extraordinary speed. Management teams are forced to triage in real time: where AI can create genuine value, whether to rely on frontier models or customize an open-weight model, which use cases, what risks are acceptable, and where more control is needed โ€“ not to mention cost.

At the same time, regulators, standards bodies and other organizations are producing new rules and AI frameworks, while opinion leaders are rolling out blog posts at an almost daily pace. In this session we will sort through the regulatory frenzy and discuss how companies can build practical rules that fit their own business, risk profile and use cases โ€“ allowing them to move forward with AI in a controlled and workable way.

During the session, we will focus on:

  • Key AI regulatory developments in China and the EU;
  • Common legal and compliance risks arising from employee use of generative AI and the deployment of agentic AI, including confidentiality, personal information, cross-border data transfers, IP protection, and liability; and
  • Practical approaches to establishing clear, proportionate, and workable internal AI governance rules that support responsible AI adoption without unnecessarily slowing down legitimate business use.

Session 2: Compliance in Employee Personal Information Protection โ€“ A Cross-Cutting Perspective of Labor Law and the Personal Information Protection Law.

This seminar integrates Labor Law and the Personal Information Protection Law to systematically outline key compliance requirements for employers handling employee personal data throughout the entire employment lifecycleโ€”from recruitment to offboarding. We will dissect common compliance pitfalls, analyze real-world cases, and provide actionable insights to help employers build a legally sound HR compliance system.

The key learning objectives of the session are:

  • Master Full-Lifecycle Data Compliance: Understand core legal requirements under Labor Law and the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) across every employment stage, from recruitment to offboarding.
  • Identify & Avoid Pitfalls: Recognize common HR compliance vulnerabilities and legal traps through real-world case analysis.
  • Implement Actionable Risk Mitigation: Learn practical strategies and best practices to safeguard employee privacy and minimize employer exposure to regulatory fines and litigation.
  • Build a Sound HR Compliance Framework: Acquire the knowledge needed to design and implement a legally robust HR data governance system tailored to your organization.

Session 3: Export Control: Introduction to China's Export Control System

Affected by geopolitics, China has increasingly strengthened its export control measures, including export controls on important industrial raw materials and equipment such as rare earths, as well as key technologies such as AI, which have had a significant and far-reaching impact on cross-border trade in goods and technology. Violating export controls will also lead to significant legal risks, including administrative and criminal penalties. Therefore, we will introduce China's laws on export control of goods and technology, analyze relevant cases, and propose corresponding solutions on how enterprises can respond to China's measures on export control of goods and technology to avoid such risks.

Session 4: Foreign-Invested Enterprise Compliance Risk Prevention Seminar

In recent years, China has continuously optimized and refined its policy and regulatory environment for private enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises. At the legislative level, the state has consistently adhered to a clear directionโ€”to implement equal protection for private enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises in practice, and to foster a more stable, fair, and predictable business environment for all types of market participants. Against this backdrop, we focus on the theme of compliance risk prevention for foreign-invested enterprises, and will conduct this seminar around two core topics.

The seminar is divided into two parts:

Part One: Core Interpretation of the 2026 Judicial Interpretation

Following the enactment of the new regulation, the property of private enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises, like that of state-owned enterprises, will enjoy equal protection under criminal law. For enterprises, this is a tangible benefit: assets become more secure, and they have stronger legal backing to stand on.

Part Two:Risk Prevention Across the Three Stages of Criminal Proceedings

On May 20, 2025, the Private Economy Promotion Law officially came into effect; in March 2025, the Ministry of Public Security issued the Provisions on the Jurisdiction of Public Security Organs over Cross-Provincial Enterprise-Related Criminal Cases. When enterprises face unlawful interference by judicial authorities in economic disputes or erroneous criminal law enforcement, how can they effectively respond and prevent risks at the three stages of investigation, review and prosecution, and trial.

Session 5: Brand Protection in China: 2026 Trademark Reform & Enforcement Strategies

The learning goals of the seminar are:

  • Gain a clear overview of the brand protection framework and key risk areas for businesses operating in China.
  • Learn how to structure a proactive brand management strategy, including portfolio maintenance and monitoring.
  • Understand the main enforcement channels available โ€“ administrative, judicial, and customs โ€“ and when to use each.
  • Explore how to build a strong case for compensation, including the role of punitive damages in deterring infringement.
  • Leave with a practical checklist of priority actions to strengthen your brand protection efforts."
